Code Blue Nation Supports Laurie Warner's Special Election

On February 14 there will be a special election in Minnesota House District 32b.
Laurie Warner is a progressive, labor-endorsed Democrat
trying to win this rural district in Chisago County.

This seat opened because former State Rep. Bob Barrett was found to live outside of the district he represented. The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled that a special election would be needed to fill the seat.

Warner is now running against hardline conservative Anne Neu, former chairwoman of the House Republican Campaign Committee.

THIS ELECTION IS WINNABLE. The district was represented by a Democrat just 8 years ago and this special election is an excellent opportunity to flip it back to BLUE.
There are 76 Republicans and 57 Democrats in the state house with 1 seat unassigned.
This is the seat we are going to win with your help.

Our Code Blue liaison to the campaign is Tamara Levenson who can be reached at codebluewla@gmail.com

Something big we can do to try to make things better...

 Phone calls to win
Louisana's U.S. Senate race

As you might know, Louisiana has the opportunity to elect one more Democrat to the U.S. Senate on December 10.

The reason this is so important it that with this additional Democrat, we'd need only two Republican Senators to vote with Dems to preserve President Obama's gains and keep Medicare and Social Security safe.

If you'd like to make calls from home to help elect Foster Campbell, the Democratic candidate running for U.S. Senate in Louisiana, please click here to send Jane an email expressing interest. She will contact you and give you all the information you need so you can quickly get started.

Thank you for everything you've done and continue
to do! This is a difficult time but together we'll not only
get through it, we'll make things better.

-- Jane and Nora

From our friends at the West L.A. Dem Club

BUSES TO VEGAS

Email ellen.bridle (gmail) for details

From Ellen:

Folks,

I'm again recruiting for road trips to support Democrats in Nevada! They definitely need our help if we're going to dump Trump! And keep Harry Reid's Senate seat.

I can truthfully say that I've found talking to voters in person, when registering them or precinct walking, to be more rewarding than I ever imagined. I've learned a lot about what's important to people, I *know* that I am responsible for some Democratic votes, and I've traveled with fabulous people and made new friends. So please -- even if you've never done this before, give it a try!

The club may be able to help with some expenses, so don't let cost be a deterrent.

Thanks very much, and I hope to see you in Nevada!

Email Ellen and she'll send you a volunteer form showing potential dates and asking for your areas of interest and your availability

MORE HISTORICAL INFO -- FYI -- on 2012 election volunteering

More to come on 2016 as the year (and, we hope, the country) progresses!

We're looking for volunteers on many fronts, but especially in connection with our 2012 Get-Out-The-Vote effort and our newly opened campaign headquarters on the Third St. Promenade in Santa Monica.

November’s election is absolutely critical for California.  In addition to re-electing the President, which we're working hard to do at HQ in conjunction with Organizing for America - CA, whose Santa Monica field office is located within the headquarters, we must help restore Califonia's financial health and prevent corporations from buying our political process.  At the Westside Democratic HQ, we’re doing everything we can to educate our communities about what is at stake on November’s ballot.

We need you now more than ever.  Sign up here to volunteer a few hours of your time.

Here is what we're working on:

YES on Proposition 30 -- Without it, our school funding could be in jeopardy, classrooms will see fewer teachers, and tuition will shoot through the roof!  We must help our fellow Californians understand the importance of passing this measure.

NO on Proposition 32 -- This proposition would allow big businesses and Super PACs to literally buy our elections, changing forever how politics works in this state. We can not allow these special interests to take away the political voice of the working class.  Prop 32 is the most deceptive measure on the ballot and MUST NOT PASS.

This and so much more is at stake on November 6!

Help us educate voters on these important statewide propositions.  Click to join us.

Our HQ here on the 3rd Street Promenade is buzzing with excitement -- phone banks, voter registration, speakers, and events -- and we need you to help keep it going.  We have lots of volunteer opportunities; there's something for everyone.  Check out our upcoming events and click the link to sign up!

Thank you for your help.  We look forward to seeing you soon.

Your Westside Democratic HQ Team
1408 Third Street, Santa Monica Promenade, 3rd Floor

Phonebanks

Tuesday, September 25, October 9, 5pm-8:30pm

Thursday, September 20 & 27, October 4, 5pm-8:30pm

Saturday, September 22 & 29, October 6, 2pm-5pm

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP TO MAKE CALLS -- WE NEED YOUR HELP

Tabling

We do tabling on the 3rd Street Promenade every day from 12pm-6pm.  Come help register voters, talk with folks about the CA propositions, and get people excited about re-electing President Obama.

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR TABLING

SPECIAL EVENTS

We need volunteers to help with setup and breakdown, guest sign-in, food and drink, and volunteer recruitment.  All events will be held at the Westside Democratic HQ, 1408 Third Street, Santa Monica Promenade, 3rd Floor.

Thursday, September 27, Gil Garcetti will speak on Proposition 34 -- Replaces Death Penalty with Life Without Parole
Monday, October 3, Presidential Debate Watch Party and Town Hall Discussion
Thursday, October 11, Vice Presidential Debate Watch Party
Tuesday, October 16, Presidential Debate Watch Party
Monday, October 22, Presidential Debate Watch Party

Other Activities

With so many things to do for this election, there's something for every volunteer.  Please let us know what other activities you might be interested in doing and we will find a place for you.

CLICK HERE to let us know how you would like to help.

Farmers' marketPhoto credit: Joan S., via Yelp

Tabling with us at the Sunday farmers' market on Swarthmore in one of two shifts, 9 - 11am and 11 - 1pm, is a great way to get in the game without making phone calls, doing data entry, or knocking on doors (all of which have their own charms).  At the FM you're face-to-face with fellow Palisadians, showing them that fellow Democrats will be working hard this year to fight for the policies and candidates we believe in.

And that the Republicans at the table down the block will not go unchallenged.

You'll typically be paired with a PPDC board member who will show you the ropes.  It all adds up to a very mellow yet effective way to spend a couple of hours in a pleasant place while contributing to the community and sticking up for things you feel passionately about.

Please contact us at info@palisadesdemclub.org, or call us anytime at 310-230-2084 and let us know you would like to be a volunteer!  We'll make it easy for you.
